Doug McDonald, who played at Ohio State, took over as head coach, and reeled off four straight 11-1 Cardinal Conference championships. The formidable front line of Mark Humrichouser (369 pts), center Tom Malone (310 points), and Milt Mooney (338 points) led the A’s to 11-wins at home and the Sectional title. In the tournament they defeated Mansfield by one-point in overtime, when Milt Mooney had a 27-point night. The starting guards were: Tom Martinelli (138 pts) and Gary Baum (110 pts). Tom Kime, sixth-man, had 86 points. The tournament trail ended in the NW District at Toledo against Lima Central Catholic. The team finished 15th in the UPI poll.
