The MVPs were Greg Hower (267 pts) and Tim Bright (214 pts). The Most Improved were Ryan Emmons and Kevin Hess. The Captain’s awards went to Andy Platt and Tim Bright. Nevertheless, the season was remembered for Friday February 7, 1997 on the home court, when the historic 1000th win came over Lexington. The Arrows upset the league leading Minutemen 47-44 before 1628 screaming fans. Defensive genius Tim Bright hounded the OSU-bound Jon Sanderson, and the A’s made 16 of 20 free throws in the fourth quarter to cinch the victory. Athletic Director Ev DeVaul had posted a season-long countdown on the west wall, as the team and the school moved toward the anticipated millennium milestone in Arrow Arena.
