With only one returning monogram winner Capt. Phil Lersch the A’s had a highly respectable season. They ran the home-court winning streak to 17-games until that nemesis Mansfield ended it. Vern Hoffman’s Tygers, also, ended their season with the third win of the year over the A’s, when they knocked the Orange and Black out of the tournament. Phil Lersch was the leading scorer with 228 points. The other starters were: Doug Shilliday, an all-county transfer from Hayesville, Norm McVicker (180 pts), Bud Jones (160 pts), and Ray Bates (154 pts).
